Why is the amount in the card alert different from the amount on my restaurant/hotel bill?
Alerts are triggered based on the initial authorization amount that the business sends, which may or may not include the estimated tip, and does not include discretionary charges such as room service, parking, dry cleaning, and wireless service. The alert amount may be different than the final amount you signed for.
